SKI-DOO DRIVETRAIN
The Ski-Doo drivetrain is a highly efficient system transmitting engine power to the track. Once the first clutch engages, the system becomes a completely automatic transmission, seeking the most efficient setting possible at the engine's output level.

T.R.A. (Total Range Adjustable) and Cushion Drive T.R.A. clutch
The T.R.A. clutch is the key drive clutch of the Ski-Doo driveline. It uses centrifugal force to transfer engine power to the transmission system, as well as control that power and keep the engine from overrevving at top speeds. Riders can adjust their top engine operating speed in 200 rpm increments without disassembly. The T.R.A. Cushion Drive clutch has additional rubber bushings to minimize engine vibration and maintain smooth engagement. Some high performance sleds have windage plates, lightweight flat disks affixed to the outside of the clutch, to eliminate air resistance to the clutch's spinning.

Bombardier Lite clutch
The Bombardier Lite is a lightweight and economical drive clutch that works on the same centrifugal force principles as the T.R.A. clutch. It offers unparalleled reliability and simplicity.

Bombardier Hydraulic Disc Brake
This brake system provides one-finger stopping power with a smooth, progressive feel by pumping a fluid into two pistons on both sides of a disc connected to the driveline. Bombardier engineers combat the high temperatures of the metal-on-metal operation of the brake by routing the brake fluid plumbing outside the brake housing. Bombardier hydraulic brake discs are machined for a consistent, true surface.

Rotax Electronic Reverse (RER)
RER is an intelligent ignition management system that reverses the direction of the sled with just the push of a button. When activated, RER slows the engine to an idle then reverses the engine's ignition spark. That reverses the direction of the pistons, reversing the drivetrain's direction, and finally reversing the direction of the snowmobile. It adds no weight, requires no battery, nor extra power, making it extremely reliable.
