Valcourt, Québec, Canada, September 19, 2008 – BRP’s 2009 Ski-Doo MX Z TNT snowmobile has earned another major award, named "Snowmobile of the Year" by SnowGoer magazine. The editors specifically cited the MX Z TNT sled with the Rotax 600 H.O. E-TEC engine, snowmobiling’s first direct-injection two-stroke.
Adapted from the company’s Evinrude outboard engines, E-TEC snowmobile technology delivers 15% better fuel economy than Rotax SDI engines and uses just half the oil. There is virtually no two-stroke smoke and smell; spark plugs are warranted for three years (up to 6,600 miles/10,000 km); the engine starts in one pull, even in the coldest temperatures; and it has an automatic summerization function.
This is the second "Snowmobile of the Year" award in a row for the MX Z sled, as the magazine honoured the 2008 MX Z X-package with 600 H.O. SDI engine a year ago.
According to SnowGoer, the Snowmobile of the Year award is "based on innovative, trendsetting representations of the future and a positive impact on the sport." They summed up the 600 H.O. E-TEC powered MX Z TNT snowmobile as "the best combination for a modern snowmobile: light weight, cleaner emissions, outstanding fuel and oil economy and excellent power delivery.
Three other Ski-Doo models were named to SnowGoer’s "Top 10" awards:
- X Z X-package with 800R PowerT.E.K. engine: "Most confidence-inspiring sled we’ve ever driven. Put any driver on this sled vs. another and we bet they’re faster."
- X Z Renegade with 600 H.O. E-TEC engine: "Less rider fatigue in conditions with high energy demands."
- SX Limited with 600 H.O. E-TEC engine: "Class-leaders at combining high performance and comfort."
American Snowmobiler magazine recently recognized the 2009 MX Z TNT model as its "Best of the Best," the magazine’s highest honour, and the MX Z Renegade model with Rotax 800R PowerT.E.K. engine as its Best Crossover Sled.
