Re: Fuel Delivery System Potential Leak - Permanent Repair

Dear Ski-Doo® Owner,

Following the interim notice issued on April 8th, BRP is sending you an updated notice in accordance with the requirements of the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act and Environment Canada. BRP has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists on certain Ski-Doo models and is conducting a safety recall.

This is a safety-related as well as an emission-related recall.

Our records show that you own a potentially affected vehicle.

Which models are involved?

Model year 2017 Ski-Doo models equipped with 850 E-TEC® engines.

What is the potential problem?

The vehicle fuel delivery system has a potential wear that can lead to fuel leaks.

Fire could occur in the presence of an ignition source. In some situations, this could result in serious property damages, injuries or even death.

To confirm that your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is affected, contact your authorized Ski-Doo dealer or BRP at 1-888-272-9222 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Eastern time 7 days a week.

What will BRP do?

BRP intends to repair your vehicle free of charge.

What should you do?

If the interim repair procedure was already performed on your vehicle, no further action is necessary.

The permanent solution involves the same corrective actions as the interim solution.

Otherwise BRP recommends avoiding driving your vehicle.

Please contact your BRP Ski-Doo dealer and make an appointment. Your dealer will perform the repair procedure.

The presence of aftermarket modifications will not prevent you from receiving this service at no cost. The presence of these modifications, while the service is being completed, will not void any existing warranty or service contract.

What to do if you feel this notice is an error?

This notice was mailed to you according to the most current information we have available. If you no longer own this vehicle or some information in this notice is incorrect, please contact BRP at your earliest convenience.

Note: A potential wear of the fuel delivery system can lead to a fuel leak and may cause the vehicle to release air pollutants exceeding Environment Canada standards resulting in potentially failing a state or local emissions inspection.

As defined in the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, as a manufacturer, we are also required to correct vehicles that may be emitting pollutants in excess of emission standards.  These emission standards were established to protect the public health or welfare from air pollution.
