Blaine Mathews

A fun-loving cowboy from Pinedale, Wyoming. Whether Blaine Mathews is roping and riding on the ranch or hopping on his snow pony, it’s a safe bet he’s the one putting the “wild” into the Wild West!

Hometown: Pinedale, Wyoming

Favorite type of terrain to ride: Most definitely rugged mountains! To me, there is no better riding than being in the trees in deep snow with lots of pillows. I love technical and challenging zones. And I say that, meaning I always try my hardest and use my knowledge and training to keep my riding safe. Riding smart is always my main focus, and that’s what I love so much about technical areas. It makes you stay aware of your surroundings constantly and allows you to learn so much about the country you ride day in and day out.

What does That Ski-Doo Feeling mean to you?

That Ski-Doo Feeling to me, is having that indescribable feeling of happiness and enjoyment you get when you are on a snowmobile. Any day on a Ski-Doo snowmobile is the best day! That Ski-Doo feeling is never being able to get rid of a huge smile on my face each and every day on the snow!

What’s your “regular” job?

I work on a ranch full time in the summer. Lots of cowboying around the ranch as we run about 2600 head of cattle. When the snow starts to fly however, it becomes a much slower pace at the ranch and allows me to focus on snowmobiles in the winter.

What are your interests and hobbies outside of snowmobiling?

I really enjoy being in the mountains anytime I can get there. Hunting is one of my favorite hobbies outside of snowmobiling. I also rodeo during the summer months. I participate in saddle bronc riding and team roping.

What motivates you to be an Ambassador?

The sport of snowmobiling has brought so much good and so much opportunity into my life. Ski-Doo has been there since day one for me. I started racing for Ski-Doo in 2012. But it all goes beyond the racing. Snowmobiling is becoming larger and larger with more people each and every day getting involved. The opportunities I have had, and all the amazing things I have learned, I want to be able to share what knowledge I have gained and the passion I have for the sport. Ski-Doo is one of the best companies in the world. I feel they have such an amazing program, high quality product and service, and the best team out there. I want to not only motivate people to get involved in snowmobiling, but to give them my firsthand experience with Ski-Doo and hopefully motivate them to discover That Ski-Doo Feeling!

What is your favorite Ski-Doo model of all time?

This is a hard one for me! I am an old school junky, so I love the classics. But in reality, the 2022 Freeride 154 Turbo! The factory turbos have seriously changed how fun backcountry riding is. Although, I’m sure my new favorite model Is going to be the 2023 Freeride 154 Turbo!

What’s the most fun you’ve ever had on a sled?

I feel each year I find a new “most fun I’ve ever had on a sled” moment! However, when I was a kid, all of my cousins and I would always be at the ranch and my grandparents had several snowmobiles. All of us would ride every single day there from the time chores were done until 3-4 in the morning! So many laughs, spills and thrills came from those days.

My most embarrassing moment on a sled is?

I mean none of us have embarrassing moments on sleds, right? In reality, it’s a nearly everyday occurrence with Jay Mentaberry and me. The one I recall most was at a race at Grand Targhee Resort. It was my first race on a mod and I was beyond excited. So excited that I crashed before the starting lights... but, I did recover and managed to make a good run!

What is your must-have item or accessory for every ride?

1. Professionally speaking, my avalanche gear and a lighter.
2. LinQ tunnel bag so you can carry all the goods!

What’s your favorite meal on a sled?

A Daniel Delight burrito from a little gas station here in Pinedale. I always have my aluminum foil because there is nothing better than a side panel cooked burrito!

What do you love about BRP?

The passion that BRP has for the sport and their desire to strive to deliver and share their highest quality product and experiences every year. I have high expectations of myself but always want to keep it light and fun and I see that same trait in BRP.
